Voltage regulator – cap. discrepancy

    The Botanicalls schematic on SparkFun shows a 100u an a 10u on the in and out of the voltage regulator, respectively. The datasheet for the 3.3V voltage regulator (see Figure 4 at http://www.sparkfun.com/datasheets/Components/LD1117V33.pdf) shows a 100n and 10u on the in an out, respectively. Can anyone explain the discrepancy? Thank you!

    These are just bypass caps, so the values aren’t too critical. The larger cap will filter out lower noise frequencies, possibly most useful since there’s generally going to be a regulated A/C power supply connected to the regulator. However feel free to substitute other values if you prefer.
